I was in Morrilton today and decided to try Vincent’s Road Hog BB, and I’m glad I did! Here’s the breakdown:
This tiny restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside.
But the interior is very cute. There are only a handful of tables and a bar to sit at, so there were some customers without a seat by about noon.
The menu is what you’d expect at a bbq joint, plus burgers and chicken tenders. The prices didn’t seem too cheap at first glance. $6.50 for a pulled pork sandwich, $8.50 for a brisket sandwich…then you have to pay extra for sides. However, I soon found out just how much food you’re getting and changed my mind. This place is crazy cheap!
Pulled Pork Sandwich ($6.50) and fries (1.50)
The food didn’t take long to get, but once I saw it, I knew I should have split this with someone. It was massive! Those are jumbo buns and they are the small part of the sandwich. There was sooo much pork and some coleslaw topped it off.
At the time I ordered, they asked if I wanted chipotle bbq sauce or their regular. I tried the chipotle, which wasn’t as sweet as I usually like, so next time I’m going to try to regular.
I had to eat with a fork, clearly, but the sandwich was delicious. The pork is tender, not fatty. The slaw, while there could have been more, was tasty and gave a nice freshness to the sandwich. And the bread was perfectly toasted….on both sides!
The fries are my favorite kind- they seem battered, which makes them extra crispy. They were piping hot, too, when I got them.
This is all I could eat! It looks like I didn’t make a dent, but I was stuffed. I got two more meals out of it…well worth $8!
P.S. You can taste the flavors of the sandwich even more cold, so I REALLY enjoyed my leftovers, they were delicious!
If you’re in the Morrilton area, give this place a shot, you won’t regret it. The staff was so friendly and nice. It is obviously a locally owned business and you can tell they care that you’re happy.
